  • Where to Use: This product is for use on Kentucky bluegrass, perennial ryegrass, tall fescue, fine fescue, bermudagrass, centipedegrass, and bahiagrass.
  • Where Not to Use: Do not use on St. Augustinegrass (including floratam), dichondra, lippia, carpetgrass, or bentgrass lawns. Also, keep it away from flowers, shrubs, fruits, and vegetables.
  • When to Use: Apply in the spring when daytime temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 80°F.
  • How Often to Use: Do not apply this product more than twice a year, and make sure there are at least 2 months between applications.
  1. Check the Forecast: This product works best when you apply it to a dry lawn, and there's no rain expected for the next 24 hours.
  2. Apply with a Spreader: Fill up your Scotts spreader, dial in the right setting, and walk at a steady pace to get even coverage across your lawn.
  3. Water it In (Later): Wait 24 hours, then give your lawn a good watering. This activates the product to start preventing crabgrass.
  • Scotts Broadcast/Rotary Spreaders: 3 1/4
  • Scotts Drop Spreaders: 6
  • Scotts Wizz Spreader: 3 3/4

The timing on this is a little different. You want to apply it to a dry lawn and then hold off on watering for 24 hours. This gives the product time to work on the weeds that are already there. After that 24-hour window, go ahead and water it in to get the crabgrass prevention working.

  • Mow Smart: Don't mow your lawn for 24 hours after applying. You want to give the product a chance to really do its thing.
  • Seeding Plans: If you're planning on seeding, sodding, or aerating your lawn, hold off for at least 4 months after you've applied this product.
  • Keep it Clean: This product can stain, so be sure to sweep any granules that get on your driveway, sidewalk, or patio back onto the lawn.
  • Let it Settle: It's best to have the lawn to yourself while you apply. Do not allow people and pets to enter treated area until dusts have settled.
  • Gear Up: We recommend wearing a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, shoes, and socks when you're applying.
  • Wash Up: After you're done, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I store leftover product?

Got some left over? No problem. Just fold the top of the bag down, secure it, and store it in a cool, dry place like your garage or shed, safely away from kids and pets.

This product has two jobs. The first is to take care of the weeds you can see. For that to work, the granules need to stick to the weed leaves for a full 24 hours. After that, watering moves the product into the soil to start its second job: preventing crabgrass.

It's best to wait. If you have a brand-new lawn, wait until you've mowed it at least four times before using this product. The new grass needs some time to get established first.

Think of this as Weed & Feed's bigger, tougher sibling. Both products will kill weeds and feed your lawn, but Triple Action adds a third major benefit: it also prevents crabgrass for up to 4 months, giving you an extra layer of protection.

This product controls existing lawn weeds like dandelions, clover, dollarweed, ground ivy, chickweed, plantain, henbit, and English daisy. It also prevents crabgrass, barnyardgrass, fall panicum, foxtail, and annual bluegrass.
