Plant seed in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 15-26°C. Seeds germinate best when the seeded area receives an average of 4 hours or more of sunlight per day.

Using the following measures, apply Scotts® EZ Seed® Patch & Repair to ensure the area is predominantly covered, yet some bare ground remains visible and the seed makes contact with the soil.

How Does Scotts® ez Seed® Patch & Repair Work?

Scotts® ez Seed® Patch & Repair is a grass seeding product designed to fill in bare spots and repair lawn damage. It contains premium grass seed, mulch and fertilizer. The mulch absorbs 6X its weight in water, creating a moist and protective layer around the seed during germination, and the slow-release fertilizer aids in jumpstarting the growth of the seedlings by providing essential nutrients over time. The tackifier included in the formula reduces seed washaway, so it can grow even on slopes.



Ingredients

Scotts® ez Seed® Patch & Repair contains the following ingredients:

  • Scotts® mixture of high performance grass seed: Creeping Red Fescue, turf-type Perennial Ryegrass and Kentucky Bluegrass.
  • Mulch: absorbs up to 6 times its weight in water and expands to surround the seed in a moist protective layer.
  • Tackifier: helps to reduce seed wash-away and a protectant to help keep seedlings safe from harmful diseases.
  • Fertilizer: a controlled release fertilizer feeds seedlings to jumpstart growth.

How Do You Effectively Use This Product?

Prepare the area: Remove dead grass and loosen hard soil to help tiny seedlings root.

Apply the product: Evenly apply Scotts® EZSeed® so the area is mostly covered, but bare ground is still visible and seed contacts the soil.

Water: Gently water the area until Scotts® ez Seed® is completely saturated and no more water is being absorbed; mixture will turn dark brown (this will take several minutes). Avoid pooling water.

After opening, plant within the season. Store in a cool, dry place out of reach of children.

With the others I get sporadic patches of grass that typically take awhile to sprout. EZ Seed is just that easy! Ready the soil, pour the seed, water and magic the grass grows. My yard is semi shade and that doesn't seem to matter for EZ Seed. It may cost a bit more but it works so it is worth it. I won't use anything else and have recommended it to family and friends as well as strangers at the garden store!

I have even missed watering it as often as recommended and the grass still came in (as long as it is Spring). I also used it on an older lawn and the grass came in great - be sure to loosen the soil first.
