Product development

Good research practices

Our R&D process is rigorous. It includes staged testing and extensive vetting at every turn - well before a product ever gets to the consumer.

We’re guided by what we call Good Research Practices, which encourage innovative thinking, problem solving and science excellence through standard operating procedures, peer reviews, risk assessments and efficacy and performance monitoring.

Our product development priorities:

  • Active Ingredients
  • Material Sourcing
  • Product Design
  • Sustainable Packaging

Active ingredients

Our active ingredients align with our product stewardship goals. We deliver on this through green chemistry advancements and evaluation of the safety, efficacy and environmental impact of ingredients based on the latest government standards and industry best practices, such as GreenScreen® for Safer Chemicals.

Material sourcing

When developing or improving products, we consider the potential risks and opportunities associated with raw material sources. We’re committed to increasing the use of recycled, bio-based or sustainably sourced materials where possible.

Product design

Through life-cycle assessments, we evaluate the environmental impact of our product designs from raw materials to disposal. These assessments enable us to expand the use of sustainable ingredients and components in existing products as well as new solutions for consumers.

Sustainable packaging

Effective packaging preserves product effectiveness and protects in wide-ranging conditions. But we do more than focus on durability. We consider the environmental impact by seeking sustainably sourced content, maximizing post-consumer recycled materials and promoting recycling, reuse and recovery.
