Imazapyr

Definition

Imazapyr was discovered in the 1970s and first sold for lawn and garden use in 1984. It is rapidly absorbed by both the leaves and roots of plants, shutting down growth almost immediately.

Not only can it kill existing weeds, but it can also prevent new weeds for up to two years. Imazapyr halts the production of a key enzyme that plants need. Without it, the plant cannot continue growing.
