Safety data sheet can be found at: https://www.scottsmsds.com

Where to Use: Use on bahiagrass, bermudagrass, bluegrass, centipedegrass, fescue, ryegrass, and zoysiagrass lawns.

Where Not to Use: Do not use on creeping bentgrass, St. Augustinegrass (including Floratam), dichondra, carpetgrass, or lippia lawns.

When to Use: Apply in the fall, from September to November, when weeds are actively growing and temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 90°F.

How Often to Use: Do not apply more than twice a year.

  1. Prep the Lawn: Give your grass a quick trim a day or two before you apply.
  2. Dampen, Don't Drench: Apply on a morning when there's heavy dew, or give the lawn a light sprinkle with the hose. The granules need to stick to the weed leaves to work their magic.
  3. Load Up: Fill up your Scotts spreader and dial in the right setting.
  4. Get Spreading: Walk at a steady pace and make even passes across your lawn.
  5. Clean Sweep: Use a broom or leaf blower to get any stray granules off your driveway and sidewalk and back onto the grass where they belong.

Note: Weed stems and leaves will begin to twist and curl in a few days, but a month or more may be required for complete control.

Give it a day to work its magic. Hold off on watering for at least 24 hours after you apply. You want to let the product stick to the weeds, not get washed away. Also, check the forecast—it's best to apply when there's no rain expected the next day.

  • Timing is Everything: Apply in the fall when weeds are actively growing and daytime temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 90°F.
  • Mow First: Mowing a day or two before you apply helps the product reach the weeds more easily.
  • Leave it Be: Don't mow for at least 24 hours after application.
  • Kids & Pets: It's best to have the lawn to yourself while you apply. Do not allow people or pets to enter the treated area until dusts have settled.
  • Gear Up: We recommend wearing a long-sleeved shirt, pants, and gloves.
  • Wash Up: After you're done, wash your hands thoroughly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple Way to Success - FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS I live in a newly built home and my lawn was hydro-seeded in the fall of last year. This spring my lawn looked awesome. But suddenly it got very hot and dry. The weeds which had been on this property for a billion years started to take over the lawn. With temps being in excess of 85F, there was no chance to address the weeds as you should never apply chemicals in heat over 85 degrees. By fall this year I was frustrated with the overwhelming amount of weeds and decided to hit it with some weed and feed just to get a jump on next spring. After reading the reviews on the Scotts website I was convinced that this was not going to be the right product. Unfortunately, with the end of the season rapidly approaching, there was very little choice except for the multitude of Scotts products. So I chose this one. Now, the one constant reply by Scotts on the large number of unsatisfied customers was that the product MUST be applied to a wet lawn. It is important when applying these kinds of products is to READ THE DIRECTIONS. The directions are very clear that this product must be applied to a wet lawn and no rain or watering, after application for at least 2 days (preferably 3). The other important information is NOT to cut the grass prior to applying this product. This product is designed to stick to the leaves of the weeds which will then be absorbed by the weed. If you cut the grass before the application, you have reduced the amount of surface area for the product to stick to. So just prepare yourself for the lawn to look less manicured for a week or so. Your neighbors might be annoyed, but afterwards they will be envious. I chose a day where the lawn was completely soaked from the morning dew and applied it immediately. I could see the product sticking to the leaves and hoped for the best. In just 2 days I started to see some of the weeds starting to wilt. Even that stubborn clover which was taking over my lawn was wilting. I was fortunate that the weather stayed dry for about a week. Early morning dew did not wash away the application. In fact, I assume the weeds were so thirsty for water, they were drinking up the dew which was activating the product. I was surprised how well the product worked. But after seeing the results, I realized that it is imperative to follow the direction. Do a little research on line and you will find small hints (like not cutting the grass prior to applying granular products) and you will increase your chances of being successful. These products are not cheap. I have about 18,000 sq. ft. so it costs about $100 to treat my entire lawn. It’s smart to give yourself the best chance of being successful. I’ll try to attach pictures of before and after but I have had several problems in attaching photos on this site. The pictures are in succession of 9/1/24 (Before application), 10/7/24, & 10/18/24. I applied the product on 10/2/24. There were no addition applications or use of any additional products during this time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from no benefit buying from scott.com I purchased Scott’s Winter guard weed and feed. Did not know it is not recommended for Saint Augustine. I found out when I read the label on back of the bag when I received it. The print was too small on the website. Customer service said I could send it back for credit but I would have to pay shipping. Total cost for product $234 shipping cost would be $160.
