DESCRIPTION
Build your lawn with Scotts® Turf Builder® Thick'R Lawn® Sun & Shade. With this combination grass seed, fertilizer, and soil improver, you can get up to a 50% thicker lawn subject to proper care (results may vary based on the condition of your lawn). This 3-in-1 solution for thin, weak lawns helps turn your grass into thicker, greener turf with stronger roots in one easy application. Use this product to overseed your lawn once in the late spring and once in the late summer or early fall. Apply in three easy steps: 1) Prep your lawn by mowing to 2 inches or at the lowest mower setting, then rake to loosen the top layer of soil and remove dead grass and debris. 2) Use a Scotts® spreader to apply (use the recommended settings on the label). 3) Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist for 2 weeks until seeds germinate, then water regularly to maintain seedling growth. One 12 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Thick'R Lawn® Sun & Shade covers 1,200 sq. ft.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
- Prep - Mow the area to a height of approximately 2 inches or lowest mowing setting. Rake or de-thatch to loosen the top layer of soil and remove any dead grass or debris.
- Apply - Use a Scotts® spreader to apply.
- Water - Water daily or as needed to keep soil surface moist for the first 2 weeks. Resume mowing when lawn reaches desired mowing height.
WHEN AND WHERE TO USE
Where Not to Use
- Apply only to actively growing turf. Do not apply near water, storm drains, or drainage ditches. Do not apply if heavy rain is expected. Apply this product only to your lawn and sweep any product that lands on the driveway, sidewalk or street, back onto your lawn.
Where to Use
- This product is designed specifically to repair thin lawns and is intended for application to the entire lawn
When to Apply
- Fall and Spring are the best times to use Thick'R Lawn®. Seed germinates best anytime temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F and all danger of frost has passed.
How Often to Apply
- Scotts® Turf Builder® Thick'R Lawn® is a great addition to your lawn care program with 1 application in the spring and 1 application in the late summer/early fall.

Using with Other Products
- Do not apply weed control products until the grass is well established (mowed at least 4 times). Additionally, if you recently used a weed control product, refer to those product instructions to determine how soon you can plant grass seed.

Great results, easy application, and a great value for healthier, fuller-looking grass!
As always, Scotts didn't disappoint! This 3-in-1 product is very convenient and provides a great quantity for treating your lawn. The instructions on the bag are clear and easy to follow, making the application simple. The consistency of the mix makes it easy to spread evenly, and clean-up afterward is quick and hassle-free. We had a few bare spots in our backyard, and after just a couple of weeks, we noticed a visible improvement. I also love that it works well in both sun and shade areas. Considering the quantity, quality, and results, it's a great value for the price. I would definitely recommend it!

Good grass seed mix
The Turf builder comes in a variety of package sizes giving you the option for a small patch or your whole yard. I used it on a few dead patches in my back yard. The seed mix has fertilizer already blended in which takes out the guess work of how much fertilizer to seed you need. After putting down the seed, I covered it with some loose soil to keep the birds away from it.

Easy to use, helps grass regrow.
This turf builder was easy to use due to the smaller size bag. It made lawn maintenance much easier since my wrists have become weaker with age. This also helps with safety issues due to said weakness. As far as the efficacy of the product, I’d say it worked pretty well! I used it where my dog thinks he MUST pee, and it helped the grass regrow! No joke!

Great product
I had some bare spots in my lawn and I used this to fill it in. It grew so fast and has still managed to look good even a couple months later. The packaging is easy to use and it’s easy to spread by hand or with a broadcaster.

Healthy lawn
My lawn is definitely feeling the heat after that crazy heat wave! ☀️ I'm looking into Scott's turf builder to get it back in tip-top shape.
