One team with one goal

Ohio Stadium was the setting for a team meeting like no other. The purpose was for associates to get to know each other better. The goal was to have fun.

“The offsite was a unique experience that everyone in IT and Finance now shares. We wanted people to get to know each other better. Mission accomplished.”

Location, location, location

Many of our associates at our headquarters in Marysville, Ohio, are from Columbus and its surrounding suburbs. We’re also half an hour away from one of the largest universities in the country: The Ohio State University. Recently, the university’s football stadium was the setting for an offsite team meeting like no other.

More than 200 associates from our IT and Finance departments gathered in Ohio Stadium to focus on being a team with one goal. The purpose was to get to know each other better. The goal of the day was to have fun.

A look behind the scenes

The day began with a stadium tour. Associates got a behind-the-scenes look of the stadium and learned about its history. Tour guides led small groups of associates up to the press box, down to the band’s rehearsal room and onto the field.

Three associates—Jamie, Sean and Peter—are alumni of Ohio State and were members of the university’s renowned marching band. They used their experience and skills to position associates into the letters S-M-G on the football field.

At work and play

The team still found time to accomplish work among the fun activities. Once the work was done, the fun and team building continued.

“Everyone is still talking about the off-site,” said Rachel, one of the organizers from the IT department. “People were really surprised at how much fun they had.”

“I’m happy to see people that previously didn’t know each other saying, ‘Hi,’ in the hallways,” adds Sean, an organizer from Finance. “The offsite was a unique experience that everyone in IT and Finance now share. We wanted people to get to know each other better. Mission accomplished.”
