About This Product
Your yard should be for epic games of tag and lazy Sunday afternoons, not a never-ending battle with weeds. That’s where we come in. Following our founder, O.M. Scott, we've held the belief that yards ain't hard since 1868. With our Tall Fescue Blend Grass Seed, we're making it a reality. We've packed a powerhouse 3-in-1 formula into one bag to take all the guesswork out of getting a lawn you can live on. This isn't just seed. It’s a carefully selected blend of tall fescue varieties from Oregon, chosen for their ability to grow into a thick, durable turf. Then, we mixed in our Natural Grass Food and a soil improver to give it everything it needs to grow strong and, best of all, naturally crowd out pesky weeds. And because we're all about the good stuff, our formula is safe for your kids and pets to play on right after you spread it. Plus, the bag is 100% recyclable. So go ahead. Go hard on your yard and let your grass do the heavy lifting.

Where & When to Use
Where to Use: Great for Tall Fescue lawns that get a mix of sun and shade. Perfect for starting a brand-new lawn or for overseeding your current one to make it thicker and more weed-resistant.
When to Use: Plant this seed in the spring or fall when it’s not too hot and not too cold, with daily temperatures consistently between 65°F and 85°F.
How Often to Use: For a green space that's always ready for action, we recommend overseeding once a year.
How To Use
For Planting a New Lawn:
- GET READY: Rake the area to loosen up the top 2 inches of soil and clear out any debris. You're creating a perfect welcome mat for your new seed.
- APPLY: Set your spreader to the new lawn rate and apply the seed mix evenly across the whole area.
- RAKE (GENTLY): Lightly rake the seed so it’s mixed into the very top layer of soil.
- WATER: This is the important part. Water every day (or as needed) for the first 3 weeks to keep that soil surface consistently moist while the magic happens.
For Overseeding Your Existing Lawn:
- GET READY: Mow your lawn on a low setting and bag the clippings. Rake the area to get rid of any junk and loosen up the soil. This helps the new seeds make friends with the dirt.
- APPLY: Fill up your spreader and set it to the overseeding rate. Take a walk around your lawn and spread the seed mix evenly.
- RAKE (GENTLY): Lightly rake the seed into the soil. You're not trying to bury it, just ensure it’s making good contact with the soil.
- WATER: Keep the soil surface moist by watering daily (or as needed) for the first 3 weeks. You want it damp, not swimming.

Watering Tips
For the first three weeks, your new seed is thirsty. A light watering once or twice a day is the name of the game. The goal is to keep the top layer of soil consistently damp to help the seeds get started. Once your new grass is established, you can back off and water less often but more deeply.
Product Tips
- Give it Time: You should see some green shoots in about 6 to 14 days. Building a truly awesome lawn is a marathon, not a sprint.
- The First Mow: Let your new grass grow to about 2 inches tall before its first haircut. And when you do mow, only take off the top third of the blades.
- Feed Your Lawn: About 4-6 weeks after planting, give your new grass a boost with a bag of O.M. Scott & Sons Natural Grass Food to keep it going strong.
Product Safety
- Ready for Play: Go ahead, let the whole crew run wild. This product is safe for use around people and pets, so you can get right back to the good times immediately after application. Just use as directed. That means don't eat it, drink it, rub it in your eyes...you get the point.
- Gear Up: Even though we use only the good stuff, it's always smart to use common sense. We recommend wearing gloves and closed-toe shoes. Save the flip-flops for when you're admiring your handiwork.
- Wash Up: Make sure to wash your hands after you're done. It's a good rule of thumb for any yard work.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I store leftover product?
Find a cool, dry spot that's out of direct sunlight. Fold or roll the top of the bag down to keep it sealed up tight, and it'll be ready for your next project.
Is this really safe for my dog who loves to roll around everywhere?
You bet. Our formula is made without pesticides and added artificial ingredients, so your furry friends and little ones can get back to enjoying the lawn right after you've applied it.
Why is this a "blend"? What's the deal?
We hand-picked several different types of tall fescue because a blend is stronger and more resilient than a single type of seed. It's like having an all-star team for your lawn.
