This 3-in-1 mix grows dense grass to help southern yards stand up to extreme heat and drought (once established). Plant in late spring or early summer when daily air temperatures stay between 70°F and 90°F for two weeks. One 5 lb. bag covers 2,000 sq. ft. when overseeding or 665 sq. ft. when starting a new yard. Water daily for at least 3 weeks, or until new grass reaches 2 inches.

Starting a New Green Space:

1. Get Ready: Rake to loosen the top layer of soil (about 2 inches deep) and remove any dead grass or debris so the seed makes good contact with the soil.
2. Apply: Pour the product into your Scotts spreader and set the dial to the new green space rate. Walk at a steady pace, slightly overlapping each pass. Some spreader settings require multiple passes.
3. Rake: Lightly rake the seed into the soil so it's slightly covered.
4. Water: Lightly water so the soil surface is moist. Continue to water daily for at least 3 weeks (set a reminder on your phone so you don't forget), or until your new grass reaches 2 inches tall.
5. Feed: Apply a bag of O.M. Scott & Sons Natural Grass Food 4–6 weeks after planting.

Overseeding an Existing Green Space:

1. Get Ready: Mow your yard at your lowest setting and bag the clippings, then rake to remove debris and dead grass and loosen the soil.
2. Apply: Pour the product into your Scotts spreader and set the dial to the overseeding rate. Walk at a steady pace, slightly overlapping each pass.
3. Rake: Lightly rake the seed into the soil so it's slightly covered.
4. Water: Lightly water so the soil surface is moist. Continue to water daily for at least 3 weeks (set a reminder on your phone so you don't forget), or until your new grass reaches 2 inches tall.
