Description

You can kill weeds without harming your lawn* with Ortho® WeedClear™ Weed Killer for Lawns. This weed killer kills over 250 common weeds found in your lawn, including dandelions, clover, poison ivy, chickweed, and dollarweed (see product label for complete weed list). It is made especially for residential lawns and contains three proven weed killers to specifically target and control common lawn weeds, without harming your grass*. This herbicide works by entering weeds through their leaves, and moves throughout the plant to kill all the way down to the root. You'll see visible results in hours, and it becomes rainproof within one hour upon drying. To use, reattach the Comfort Wand® or Trigger Sprayer from your previous bottle to this ready-to-use refill. People and pets may enter the treated area after the spray has dried. For best results, use when weeds are small and actively growing in the spring or fall.

How to Use

  • Use this Ortho® WeedClear™ Weed Killer for Lawns refill bottle with the Comfort Wand® from an empty Ortho® WeedClear™ Weed Killer for Lawns container.

  • Removing the Comfort Wand®

    • Remove the hose connector from the original bottle by pulling the plug from the spout on the cap.

    • Remove the side holster by pulling the bottom tab underneath it and sliding the holster up.

  • Attaching the Comfort Wand® to the Ortho® WeedClear™ Weed Killer for Lawns refill bottle

    • Attach the spray holster by sliding it onto the knob on the side of the bottle.

    • Insert the hose connector into the spout. It will click into place.

  • Applying Ortho® WeedClear™ Weed Killer for Lawns

    • Twist the knob to the "ON" position.

    • Set the sprayer nozzle to the desired spray pattern.

    • Slide the trigger switch to "UNLOCK."

    • Press the trigger to spray. Aim at the center of the weed and spray only until the surface of the weed is wet.

    • When all weeds have been treated, turn the sprayer nozzle "OFF."

    • Slide the trigger switch to "LOCK."

    • Twist the knob to the "OFF" position.

    • Fold the wand closed and place the sprayer securely in the holster.

Where Not to Use

  • Application should not be made within 25 feet of rivers, fish ponds, lakes, streams, reservoirs, marshes, estuaries, bays and oceans.
  • You should also not apply Ortho® WeedClear™ Weed Killer for Lawns to the Floratam variety of St. Augustinegrass; Bentgrass; Carpetgrass; Dichondra; Lippia; Seashore paspalum and any Turfgrass species not listed. Applications should also not be made to ornamental plants (flowers, trees, groundcovers, landscape beds and shrubs) or gardens including vegetable, fruit trees, vines and berries.

Where to Use

  • Use on warm season turfgrass like St. Augustinegrass (Do not use on Floratam); Bermudagrass (common and hybrid); Centipedegrass; Zoysiagrass; Buffalograss and Bahiagrass and use on cool season grasses like Kentucky Bluegrass; Ryegrass; Tall Fescue and Fine Fescue.
  • Only apply to newly seeded areas after the grass has been mowed 3 times.

When to Apply

  • Apply in the spring and fall when weeds are small and actively growing, when the air is calm, and the temperature is below 90°F. Do not apply when it is raining or when rain is expected that day.

How Often to Apply

  • Applications should be limited to 2 per year with at least 30 days between them.

Watering Tips

  • If the lawn is dry, water thoroughly before applying.

  • This pesticide is toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates and may adversely affect non-target plants. To protect the environment, do not allow pesticide to enter or run off into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters or surface waters. Applying this product in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area. Drift and runoff may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in water adjacent to treated areas.
  • This product has properties and characteristics associated with chemicals detected in groundwater. The use of this product in areas where soils are permeable, particularly where the water table is shallow, may result in groundwater contamination. Application around a cistern or well may result in contamination of drinking water or groundwater.
