DESCRIPTION
Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Southern Gold® Mix for Tall Fescue Lawns is Bred in the South for the South!® This mix contains Root-Building Nutrition, a combination of ingredients that is expertly crafted to help establish deep roots to grow thick, green turf so that you can build a better, stronger lawn from the roots up. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Southern Gold® Mix for Tall Fescue Lawns is designed for full sun and partial shade, and has medium to high drought resistance with high durability. It can be used to seed a new lawn or overseed an existing lawn. For best results, apply in the spring or fall when daily average soil temperatures are consistently between 60°F and 75°F or air temperatures are between 65°F and 85°F. We recommend using a Scotts® spreader to apply this product (please refer to spreader settings on product label). Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. One 32 lb. bag of Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Southern Gold® Mix for Tall Fescue Lawns has a new lawn coverage of 2,665 sq. ft. and an overseeding coverage of 8,000 sq. ft.
STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use When Seeding a New Lawn
- One 12 lb. bag covers 2,665 sq. ft. for a new lawn.
- Use a rake to prep the area to be seeded. Loosen the top layer of soil (roughly 2" deep). Remove any dead grass or debris to ensure seed-to-soil contact.
- Apply using a Scotts® spreader - Set a Scotts® Hand-Held Spreader to 5. Go over the lawn 5x. Set a Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader to 9 1/2. Go over the lawn 2x. Set a Scotts® Drop Spreader to 18. Go over the lawn 5x. Set a Scotts® Wizz® Spreader to 6. Go over the lawn 3x. Set a Scotts® Elite Spreader to 11 1/2.
- Lightly rake the area where the seed was applied to ensure it is covered just beneath the soil.
- Water daily, or as needed, to keep the soil surface moist for at least 3 weeks or until the seedlings reach at least 2 in. tall.
When Overseeding an Existing Lawn
- One 12 lb. bag covers 8,000 sq. ft. when overseeding an existing lawn.
- Mow the lawn using the lowest mower setting. Bag the clippings as you go. Rake the area you will be seeding to loosen the top layer of soil. Remove any dead grass or debris to ensure seed-to-soil contact.
- Apply using a Scotts® spreader - Set a Scotts® Hand-Held Spreader to 5. Go over the lawn 2x. Set a Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader to 8. Set a Scotts® Drop Spreader to 17 1/2. Go over the lawn 2x. Set a Scotts® Wizz® Spreader to 6. Set a Scotts® Elite Spreader to 7.
- Lightly rake the area where the seed was applied to ensure it is covered just beneath the soil.
- Water daily, or as needed, to keep the soil surface moist for at least 3 weeks or until the seedlings reach at least 2 in. tall.

Just what we needed!

It Works!
This Scott’s turf builder is very effective! I used it on patches in my yard that had densely grown grass other parts of my lawn. The grass grew thicker and vibrant! The application is not difficult at all, whether using a feeder or by hand. I love how it’s a three and one formula, the seedlings, fertilizer, and the soil improver. I will continue to use this product and look forward to having beautiful thick, healthy grass throughout the year.

So surprisingly awesome! Great outcome
This stuff is tremendously awesome!! We’ve had so many spots where the grass was either completely gone or was barely anything there. We used it on the entire grass and it made such a difference! The empty spots are no longer there. The grass looks so much better that I was so surprised because I wasn’t sure what to expect. This stuff has become my boyfriend’s favorite grass product to use for our lawn to look much better.

Great product!
This fertilizer has worked really well for us. We put the builder down by hand and watered the ground, the grass is growing well, and you can see the growth between the 2 photos that happened within 14 days. Overall, we like the product and plan on using it in other spots that we have in our lawn.

Surprisingly effective
Amazing before and after, extremely easy to use. It laid in the soil very well and the smell wasn’t too strong out of the bag. It was little bit of a small portion but well worth it.
