STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS
How to Use
- Prepare seeding or sodding area by removing dead grass and weeds and loosen top 0.25 inch of soil with rake.
- Place 1 inch of Scotts® Turfbuilder® Lawn Soil evenly over area.
- Spread grass seed and lightly rake into soil or lay sod over newly applied Scotts® Turfbuilder® Lawn Soil.

Too much debris
Full of wood chip / mulch material. For >$9 per bag, I would expect more soil and less debris.

Not Worth The Cost
Bought this product about two weeks ago and luckily emptied the bag into a wheelbarrow to work out of. There was quite a few pieces of rubber, larger rocks, wood and plastic pieces. Had to sift through a bit to remove the garbage before placing on the lawn. Quality is not there for the cost of this bag of soil. Not buying again.

Not what I thought it was.
I needed to fill and reseed a few holes in my lawn. I bought this product thinking “soil” means dirt. Well to my surprise, it’s more like very fine bark mulch. It’s not dirt at all. It doesn’t pack down and is very spongy. I would not recommend this product at all if you’re trying to fill any holes. I would not even use this as topsoil before seeding. Next time I’d just prefer to buy dirt in a bag without any other ingredients.

Massive Improvement!
Booyah!! Doesn't even look like the same lawn. Scarified => Aerated => Lawnsoil top dress => Scarified again to mix in to native soil => Seed => Water water water.

Bought this to save my grass, and all it was in the 2 bags that I bought was mulch - no soil. Very disappointed that I spent the money on something that isn’t what was advertised. Won’t be using again.

Worst Top Soil
Horrible. Scott's has joined the approach of cheapen the quality of the product for profits. This is no better than the top soil at Home Depot for a third of the price. There is no dirt. It is wood chips and chunks and strands. About half of the chips are over two inches and up to four. I have reseeded for years and after 10 days have to rip this out and buy 'real' top soil from a nursury.

No mulch or foreign material
I just used a bag I had left over from a previous grass project that I didn't do.i used it as a top dressing for a Bahia new sod. Sod has been installed for 2 weeks and remembered I had that bad . There was no mulch or foreign matter in it. Just straight up topsoil and ingredients. Rain coming next few days and I'll see if it perks up a bit. The original sod was not that great a batch.
