How To Use
Here’s how to get your plant settled in its new home:
- Pick a Pot: Select a pot with a drain hole.
- Add Soil: Fill the pot about 1/3 full with Miracle-Gro Indoor Potting Mix for Orchids.
- Place Plant: Gently loosen the root ball and place your plant in the pot.
- Top Off: Add more mix to fill the pot, pressing it lightly around your plant.
- Water: Water your plant and let any excess water drain out.
Watering Tips
Your orchid will love this fast-draining mix! Epiphytic orchids like to have good aeration and drier conditions between waterings. Always check the mix before watering; if it feels damp, wait another day or two. When you do water, water thoroughly and let all the excess drain away.

If I have product leftover, how do I store it?
We're glad you asked! To keep your leftover indoor gardening soil in great shape, simply seal the bag (a clip or tape works great!) and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Why does this mix look like bark instead of soil?
That's a great observation! This mix is chunky on purpose. Most common orchids are "epiphytic," meaning in nature they grow on trees, not in the ground. Their roots are built for clinging and need lots of air, so this coarse, fast-draining blend mimics that environment perfectly!
Can I use this for my other houseplants, like my pothos?
This mix is a special treat just for your orchids. Many other houseplants, like your pothos or monsteras, are tropicals that prefer a different kind of soil. We'd recommend our Miracle-Gro Indoor Potting Mix for Tropical Plants for them—it's blended to provide the balanced drainage and retention they love.

Great orchid soil!
No such thing as too many plants. Orchids are very particular, but so beautiful. I always say happy roots and soil make happy plants. Very little mess and dust, highly recommend for any orchids. No dirty soil smell either! A must add to any plant collection.

The perfect orchid mix
This potting mix is my favorite for Orchids! I've tried many and even mixed up my own and this is still my fav!
I like to rescue dying orchids from stores and bring them back to life and this potting soil has helped me do just that several times. Exactly what you need for an orchid. Proper drainage as it's nice and chunky!

Orchid mix
This is amazing. I just started making my own garden and this came in perfect time. Smells good. It is a little sticky but not too much. The texture is like that of mulch. A lot of product in the bag as well. It helps keep the water in rather than completely getting empty like others do. I highly recommend it.

The texture nice and chunky, which helps with drainage and keeps the roots from getting soggy. My orchids seem healthier, with stronger roots and more vibrant blooms. Soft Coarse Blend.
As you can see, my orchid is in crisis. In a last-ditch attempt to save it, I repotted it with Indoor Potting Mix. This has the look and feel of soft bark/mulch, which supports faster drainage and prevents mold. I’ve made the mistake of overwatering my plant in the past, so I’m hoping this helps. The coarse blend is made specifically for orchids that need plenty of airflow, especially around the roots.

Great product
I decided to use this for repotting my fiddle leaf tree. This potting mix is really nice and will allow for better drainage and growth. It has a nice texture and weight to it. I added to the middle and top and it’s been doing great.

Nutrient rich mix
This is an airy course mix to prevent water logging and root rot. This mix includes nutrient enriched ingredients to feed your orchids for months after planting. Use a pot with drainage holes and the instructions say to repot every 18-24 months. My Sharry Baby Orchid was struggling and starting to lose leaves. Just days after changing its medium to this Miracle Gro Orchid mix my SBO has new leaves coming up and look very healthy. To water I fill a bowl with water and place my orchid and its pot inside the bowl and let it soak up water for 5-10 minutes when it dries out. So far I would recommend this mix and I’d buy it for all of my Orchids.

Works and plants like it
This orchid potting mix has a light texture and well draining, which is key for orchids so the roots don’t sit in water.
