Where to Use: Whether your yard bakes in the sun or gets dappled shade, this grass mix feels right at home. It's perfect for areas that receive full sun and moderate shade.
Where Not to Use: Skip the deeply shaded spots. If an area of your yard has heavy, dense shade where sunlight is minimal, this seed won't be your best bet.
When to Use: Plan to put down your seed in the spring or fall. You're looking for that sweet spot when the average daily soil temperature stays consistently between 60°F to 75°F, or when the air temp is hanging out between 65°F to 85°F.
How Often to Use: Use it as needed. Whether you're starting a brand new lawn from scratch or overseeding to thicken up the grass you've already got, just make sure to stick to the optimal spring and fall growing seasons.
Seeding Projects: We designed this mix to be your go-to for two main jobs: planting a completely new lawn or overseeding to thicken up your existing grass.
How To Use
- PREP: For a new lawn, remove any debris and loosen the top two inches of soil with a rake. For overseeding, mow your lawn at the lowest setting, then rake to remove debris and dead grass, and loosen the soil.
- APPLY: Use a Scotts Spreader to apply at the recommended spreader setting listed below. Lightly rake the seed into the soil.
- WATER: Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until the seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.

Sprouted quickly and looks great!
Very satisfied with this grass seed mix. We spread it in some bare spots in our lawn and it started to sprout very quickly. It has a nice color and look to it. Our yard does get full sun and we’ve had a lot of rain so i’m sure that helped with the quick growth

Best kentucky bluegrass seed!
Incredible grass seed! I’ve tried 5 different Kentucky bluegrass brands. This product is finally increasing the growth in my yard’s patchiest areas. One more treatment with this seed and my yard will be looking lush. Will absolutely purchase again.

They aren’t lying when they say that this seed grows in thick and fast! Not to mention a little bit goes a long way. Our grass has never looked greener and it was incredibly easy to lay the seed. This bag will last us several seasons..

Promising for a high traffic lawn
I'm super excited for the progress I'm seeing with this grass seed. I have several dogs and small kids, so my lawn takes a beating. That combined with unpredictable Ohio weather, my lawn has seen better days. Our main priority is having a low maintenance, durable lawn, and this product promises just that. So far, seeds are taking densely and appear hardy. Care so far is easy - just making sure to water the lawn once a day. I am ready for a lush lawn and think this product is the key!

Quality you can trust
Scott’s is a well known brand for lawn care so when I was offered the chance to try it out I was excited. Our neighbor recently has their septic redone which meant their lawn was a mess. When doing the area of grass between our homes we used the sample seed I got on an area on our property and it did great. We need to do a larger area on our front lawn but are not ready to take on that project yet this season but when we do we’ll be using this product for sure!

Affordable, quick and works with heavy foot traffic
We live at sea level and couldn’t be happier with the results. After spreading it in early spring on our Apache lawn with a mix of clay, heavy soil and some shade from mature trees the germination was impressive. It was thick, dark green blade started popping up with just 7 to 10 days even with our typical coastal humidity and occasional heavy rains.
The mix established quickly filling in bare spots better than any other seat I’ve tried and it has that classic tall fescue durability that stands up well 2 foot traffic from the kids and our dogs
It’s been about six weeks now and the lawn looks lush and resilient without needing excessive watering or fertilizer beyond the starter formula I used. If you’re looking for a tough, no fuss grass that performs well in the transition zone like ours I highly recommend the Scott Kentucky 31 mix. Plus with multiple kids. It’s hard to afford little extras and this is cost effective & affordable for the amount that you get. It’s reliable and delivers the envy worthy yard without the hassle. Our neighbors are asking for deets.

Fast growing
I started to overseed my back yard about 3 weeks ago, and so far so good. I didn’t see any weed growing so it’s a plus (even it’s too soon). My backyard has plenty sun during the day, however I don’t know how this would work in the summer.
