Where & When to Use
Where to Use: For use on typical northern lawns with a mix of sun and shade. Ideal for starting a new lawn or to overseeding an existing lawn.
Where Not to Use: Apply this product only to your lawn. Do not apply near water, storm drains, or drainage ditches.
When to Use: Cool season grasses should be planted in spring or fall, when temperatures are between 60°F and 80°F. Do not apply if heavy rain is expected.

How To Use
New Lawn
- Prep: Rake the area to loosen the top layer of soil (about 2 inches deep) and remove any dead grass or debris so the seed makes good contact with the soil.
- Apply: Use a Scotts spreader set to the New Lawn setting and spread the grass seed.
- Rake: Lightly rake the product into the soil so it’s covered just beneath the surface.
- Water: Water daily to keep the soil surface moist until seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall.
Overseeding
- Prep: Mow the area to about 2 inches, or your lowest mower setting. Rake to loosen the top layer of soil and remove any dead grass or debris.
- Apply: Use a Scotts spreader set to the Overseeding setting and spread the grass seed.
- Water: Water daily or as needed to keep the soil surface moist until seedlings reach at least 2 inches tall. Resume mowing when the lawn reaches your desired mowing height.

I reseeded a section of our backyard that had very little grass. I aerated and loosened the top inch of the soil. I also added 3 pages of Scotts topsoil. After spreading, I raked the seed into the soil and covered the area with straw (we live in the woods with rodents and birds galore). Six weeks later and the new grass is plush and thick. I've mowed it 3 times. I also used some leftover seed to repair a dozen urine spots, and it has worked well filling these in. I'm pleased with this product and will continue using it.

Rye came up in 5 days. Red fescue next in about 10 days. I’m on day 16 and blue grass is 1/2 way up. I always have used Scott’s my entire life (I’m 65) and have always had great results seating my lawn with Scott products.

Very nice grass seed I will buy more this fall
I planted the tall fescue last fall and it came up nicely. Now in the spring and early summer it looks like the rest of my grass. It blended well and is nice and mature. Other grasses I tried in the past would not look this good for another season. I like it.
