Where to Use: The Scotts Turf Builder EdgeGuard Mini Spreader is perfect for small to medium sized lawns.
When to Use: This small broadcast spreader is great for year-round use. Use it to apply lawn fertilizer, grass seed, granular control products for weeds, bugs, and disease from spring to fall. Then in the winter, use it to apply ice melt and salt to driveways and sidewalks.
How To Use
- PREPARE: First, check the back of your bag of Scotts product for the correct spreader setting.
- FILL: Head to the driveway or other hard surface to fill up the hopper—it helps keep any spills off the lawn.
- SET: Turn the dial to the correct setting you just found on the bag.
- GO: Now for the fun part! Start walking at a steady pace and squeeze the trigger to apply. Overlap each pass by about 50% (or wheel-track to wheel-track) for a nice, even coverage.

PRO TIP FOR EDGES: To keep product where it belongs, just flip the EdgeGuard lever. It blocks the right side of the spread pattern to protect your driveway and sidewalks.

Precise spreading
I have an older model red devil spreader. It never spreads correctly and settings are not precise. I have burned my lawn before due to it dropping too much product. I borrowed my neighbors Scott’s mini edge guard spreader and was thrilled by how it operated and laid down the product. I had to purchase my own!!

I’ve been using the spreader for two years and it works great once in a while overdo it and get spots, but that’s on my own fault but otherwise it works wonderful great spreader spread even, Once you get used to it gets easier and easier every time you use it

Easy to handle
I purchased my mini spreader yesterday 3/8/24 at Valu Home Center here in Erie Pa. Checked it all out but haven't had a chance to try it out yet (snow on the way). Anyway it looks very easy to use and nice and lightweight. I should breeze thru fertilizing my yard. Anxious to try it out.

To those who have had problems....
This product is light weight and well engineered. Always! Follow the instructions for the spreader and the product you apply on your lawn. ALSO! Hose down the spreader top and bottom in a corner of your lawn where you have a mulch pile or no grass growing, Do NOT let the spreader "cake up" on the bottom or the chute! That will keep it in fine shape. I have been using Scott's products since 1968. That's about 55 years folks! We have never had a problem. And, we have never had a gardener! You get exercise and a great feeling when you see the results of your work. If you do have an issue, call Scott's and they will follow up. They stand behind what they sell.
