About Britt

What first got you interested in plants and how did that passion grow into what it is today?

  • It started during the pandemic. I was going through a rough time and needed somewhere to channel everything I was carrying. I noticed that every time a plant photo or a plant page popped up on my timeline, I felt this wave of calm, and I knew I wanted that feeling in my home. So I started collecting, and I went from a few plants to over a hundred in less than a year. What kept me going was realizing the plants were actually helping me through it. I fell in love with caring for them, understanding them, and learning everything I could about them. And then I wanted to share that with other people. I wanted to become the bestie I needed when I first started, because I didn’t have anyone to talk to about this stuff. That’s really where it all grew from: building a community for the people just getting started who need someone to encourage them, teach them, cheer them on, and pass along the things that helped me along the way.

How has your relationship with plants shaped the feeling and energy of your home?

  • It’s shaped it completely. I have this life I get to wake up to every day. When people are stressed, the one thing they usually want is to get away, to go out into nature, take a walk, ground themselves, and reset. I get to experience that every day inside my own home, and it’s a beautiful feeling. There’s a real energy to it. It’s calm and peaceful, but it’s also energizing and lively. It feels like growth. There aren’t enough words to describe all of it, but overall, I love the peace and the serenity that having plants around me creates. It’s genuinely improved my quality of life, my well-being, and my mental health. That energy is real, and plants provide it. I’m grateful for it every day.

Her Approach

How would you describe your approach to plant care - more intuitive, experimental, or somewhere in between?

  • I’d say I’m somewhere between intuitive and experimental. I look at everything as an experiment. I love trying new things and seeing what results I get, finding all the different ways to care for plants, and what they respond well to. Being experimental is honestly a big part of how I got to where I am, because I’m never afraid to try something new. But there’s also a real intuition there. I’ve been so intentional about the relationship I’ve built with my plants that I can sense when they need something, and I can sense when they’re happy. There’s an energy that’s hard to explain, but I can feel when they’re thriving, and in turn, that makes me happy too. We kind of feed off each other. That mix of staying curious and trusting what I feel is exactly how I care for them.

What inspires the way you create spaces that feel cozy, lived-in, and connected to nature?

  • What inspires me is nature itself. When I’m out in these beautiful natural areas, I think about how I feel, and I want to bottle that up and bring it into my home. So much of how I curate my space comes from chasing that feeling: how I place my plants, how I style them to enhance how they look, and really highlight their beauty. Each plant has its own individual spot, but they’re also part of the collective, and I’m intentional about styling them in a way that lets them stand out while still belonging to the whole. The indoor jungle aesthetic is something I’ve worked toward for years, and I hope it inspires other people the way it inspires me. Plants really are the blueprint. They’re the muse. And placement matters to me not just so they thrive in the right light, but for the overall feeling it creates in my home.

Home & Styling

Your spaces feel very natural and intentional—how do you incorporate plants into your home without making it feel overly styled?

  • I lean on decor that complements the plants and enhances how they look. Books, candles, pieces that add my personality and things I actually use, just in an elevated way. It’s important to me that the decor doesn’t only complement the plant, but looks intentional next to it. I never want it to feel overly staged or like I don’t actually live there. So a lot of it comes down to keeping my plants healthy and thriving so they look their best, and then leaning on styling tips I’ve learned over the years, like the rule of threes. I also use as many natural materials as I can: wood, woven baskets, natural-colored or complementary tones that make everything feel cohesive. When a space feels cohesive, and you’re layering in your own personality with pieces that show who you are alongside the plants, that’s what keeps it from feeling staged. It feels cozy and inviting instead.

Are there certain rooms or corners of your home where plants make the biggest impact for you?

  • Definitely my bedroom. There’s something about going to sleep surrounded by nature. One thing I do to lean into that feeling is play forest sounds every night, birds chirping and everything, so it almost feels like I’m sleeping in a canopy out in nature. I go to sleep that way and wake up that way, and it’s beautiful. Between the plants, all the natural light, the windows, and the natural tones, the room feels light and airy and serene, which is everything I’d want in a bedroom. I have plants all throughout my home and every space feels lively in its own way, because each one has a different intention behind it. But the bedroom is the one that makes the biggest impact, for sure.

Everyday Plant Care

What parts of plant care do you find the most relaxing or rewarding?

  • I love watering my plants. I really romanticize it. I go around with my watering can and get in touch with each one as I go, looking at their leaves, checking for new growth, looking for any little sign of how they’re doing, whether they’re thriving or telling me something’s off. I love doing it when the sun is shining through my windows. Sometimes I put on music, and sometimes I just get really present and go into my own little world with them. I talk to them, tell them how proud I am, how great they’re doing. It’s one of my favorite things to do every week.

When life gets busy, what are your non-negotiables for keeping your indoor plants healthy and happy?

  • My non-negotiable is just checking in with them. My plants are on a rhythm, and over time a lot of them have adapted and have similar care, so they don’t really require much. A weekly check-in is what I aim for, and that’s when I get present with each one. I’m also observing them throughout the week. I catch myself noticing them, and that’s how I know if something needs to change or if anything’s going wrong. The other thing I’ve learned over the years is to choose plants that work for my current lifestyle. Earlier on, I had plants I didn’t really have time to give much attention to because I was in a different season of life. Now that I work from home and do pretty much everything from home, I have more time to care for plants that align with how I live. That’s a big one for me: finding plants that fit your lifestyle right now.

Do you have any small daily or weekly plant rituals you especially enjoy?

  • I love checking for and documenting new growth. Sometimes we forget where our plants started, and being a content creator has gotten me into the habit of recording mine a lot, but on a personal level I just love looking at the new leaves. It shows me that my plants are growing, and that means I am too. For them to grow, I had to grow as a plant parent to maintain the collection I have and get them to the size they are now, which usually isn’t the size they started at with me. So checking for new growth is a wonderful little ritual. It’s how I see where my plants are at and know they’re happy with my care.

Partnership & Product

What made partnering with Miracle-Gro feel like a natural fit for your lifestyle and audience?

  • My grandmother is who truly got me into plants. She gardened when I was a kid and she used Miracle-Gro in her own garden. Now that she’s passed on, partnering with the very product she used feels deeply full-circle. I got to build a lifestyle out of a passion for plants, a passion that started in a hard season of my life but was really planted in childhood, through all the lessons and skills she was instilling in me before I even realized she was teaching them. Being able to continue the legacy of caring for plants that was passed down to me through her means everything. My mom is a plant parent too, so this is a generational passion for us. To honor my grandmother through a partnership with the product she used in the garden that literally and figuratively fed her family, off the fruits of her labor, is such a special opportunity for me.

Seasonal Connection

What does springtime mean to you when it comes to your home and plants?

  • Springtime means growth. It feels like everything is coming back to life. After all the cold, cozy weather, you start moving into the vibrancy of nature: the birds chirping, the first blooms, the colors forming. It’s one of the most inspiring times of the year. Coming out of a cold season where you kind of just want to slow down and stay in, spring is when you pick back up and feel inspired again. The sun’s shining, things are turning green, and you feel ready to really get back into your plant care and refreshing your space. It’s a wonderful time, and I love it as a plant parent.

Is there a plant in your collection you're especially excited about right now—or one you're hoping to help thrive this season?

  • That’s a hard one, because I get excited about all of them. Every plant in my space is an intentional choice, and I love that. As plant parents we tend to want to save every plant and have every plant, but as you grow you become more intentional, because the light, the windows, the space in your home is all real estate. You really want to make sure the plants you bring in are ones you truly love. But if I had to choose, I’d say Ziggy, my Alocasia Zebrina. He’s a community favorite, and he’s persevered through so much over the five years I’ve cared for him. Right now he’s making his comeback, and it’s a beautiful thing. He mirrors so much of my own journey as a plant parent and a content creator, all the things I’ve had to push through and still find a way to thrive. He’s a perfect example of growing through what you go through.

As the seasons change, do you adjust the way you care for or style your plants indoors?

  • I do adjust how I care for them. In the warmer months I’m leaning on a lot of natural light and watering more frequently because everything dries out quicker. In the colder months my plants slow down a little, and honestly I slow down as a person too, so their care slows right along with me. Styling, though, stays pretty much the same for me. When I refresh a space it’s usually not a seasonal thing, it’s just because I’m wanting a change, and that can happen at any random time. So my care shifts with the seasons, but my styling stays consistent unless I’m in the mood to switch it up.
