How Often to Use: We recommend applying a fresh layer once a year to keep your garden beds looking great and to continue preventing weeds.

1. Prep Your Garden Bed: Before you start, it's a good idea to clear out any existing weeds from your flower beds or garden.
2. Apply a Generous Layer: Spread a layer of mulch about 3 inches deep around your plants. Be sure to keep the mulch a few inches away from the plant stems.
3. Water it In: After you've applied the mulch, give the area a good watering to help it settle into place.

One of the great things about mulch is that it helps the soil hold onto moisture. After you've applied your mulch, you may find that you don't need to water your plants as frequently. Just check the soil under the mulch with your finger—if it feels dry, it's time to water.

• Freshen Up: To keep your garden looking its best, we recommend adding a fresh layer of mulch every year.
• Give 'Em Room: When you're spreading the mulch, be sure not to pile it up right against the stems of your plants. This gives them some breathing room.
