Description
Get started on a lush, green lawn with the Scotts® Grass Seed and Fertilizer Bundle. Scotts® Turf Builder® Grass Seed Southern Gold® Mix for Tall Fescue Lawns features root-building nutrition, a combination of ingredients that is expertly crafted to establish deep roots to grow thick, green turf. Follow-up your seed application with Scotts® Turf Builder® Triple Action Built for Seeding. This weed and feed is designed for new grass and can be applied immediately after seeding. In addition, it prevents crabgrass, dandelion, clover, ground ivy, chickweed, henbit, and nutsedge. To apply, first prep your lawn for seeding or overseeding as needed. Fill your Scotts® spreader with grass seed and set the dial to the recommended setting. After application, rake to ensure the seed is lightly covered with soil. Last, use your spreader to apply weed and feed (remember to change your spreader settings per label directions). How to Use
To Apply Grass Seed:
- PREP: For a new lawn, rake area to loosen the top layer of soil (approximately 2 inches deep) and remove any dead grass or debris, ensuring seed-to-soil contact. To overseed, mow the lawn at the lowest setting and bag the clippings. Rake to remove debris, dead grass, and loosen the soil, ensuring seed-to-soil contact.
- APPLY: Use a Scotts® Spreader to apply seed at the recommended spreader setting.
- New Lawn: Scotts® Broadcast/Rotary Spreader: 9 1/2 (Go over lawn 2X); Scotts® Elite Spreader: 11 1/2; Scotts® Drop Spreader: 18 (Go over lawn 5X); Scotts® Wizz® Spreader: 6 (Go over lawn 3X); Scotts® Hand-held Spreader: 5 (Go over lawn 5X)

- RAKE: Lightly rake the seed into the soil to ensure seed is covered just beneath the soil surface.

Loving our lawn!
My husband loves to have a nice looking lawn but has been use to northern grasses and upkeep. We had a lot of bare spots and nasty old Bermuda in patches. I finally convinced him to try cutting it longer and use Scotts Turf builder for seeding with Scotts fescue for our Tennessee area. The lawn has never looked so good. We still have some spots that need some TLC but most of it has filled in and very little old Bermuda is present. It is thicker than it has been in the 11 years we have lived here. Thank you Scotts!!

Worked well
I used this when overseeing my lawn — 2 months later everything is lush, healthy, and no crabgrass. It killed some dandelions we had too.
If anyone from Scott is reading this: can I use the remaining product as a second application of fertiliser this season? Or should I really only use it when over seeding?

This seed works really well on our lawn
I bought Scotts Southern Gold two years ago, and then again this year. In the Fall we usually have a thin lawn due to drought during the Summer. The water costs around here are really high in the Summer. I used Southern Gold to reseed, and to start a new patch of grass that was totally bare. Both the bare area and the reseeded areas are doing great. We are not in the deep South, but halfway down the East Coast. I really like this grass, it is standing up to the drought well, we had less thinning after the Summer. The new area is nice and green even now in the Winter. In both areas we kept the seeds wet for about 2 1/2 weeks, and then tappered off. I put the seed down late Sept or early October. I also usually add some good dirt first on any area where the soil looks red and clay like, which is the natural dirt around here. I also apply fungicide every 30 days in the Summer, and top dress with some really good dirt, at least once a year. Our lawn has built up a nice humus layer on top of the clay. It looks really great.

Last fall worked great, very little weed pressure
I used this last fall to great success , and will use it today when I overseed. Southern Belle TTTF / Texas Bluegrass blend from Mountain View Seeds... The Meso in this fert can leave a bleaching effect on existing turf , as it grows out and is mowed it will return to its green glory. To all who leave the negative reviews...do a little research 1st , prepare & decide whats rite for your lawn....a nice lawn isnt a sprint, its a marathon!!! lol , good luck to all , have a great Fall!!!

Fast, Thick Growth
I did a dethatching and then spread this mix over the yard. Then I spread a thin layer of topsoil over the seeds and watered daily. After a week I have growth everywhere. It looks like a fuzzy green beard!

A carpet for a lawn
When we moved in the lawn was nothing but weeds and dead grass. We air rated the area, applied black cow and raked it all in after killing all the weeds. We applied the southern gold product and have watched the lawn grow and fill in. the color in a striking green compared to the other darker green lawns. The lawn is thick. Our neighbors say it feels like a carpet. We started in April and by June the lawn was doing fine. Only one area had some issue but is filling in nicely. Would and will use this product again
