How To Use
- Choose Your Pot: Pick a container that has a drainage hole. This is super important to keep your plant's roots from getting waterlogged.
- Fill it Up: Fill your pot about 1/3 full with the potting mix.
- Plant Your Favorite: Gently loosen the root ball of your plant and place it in the pot.
- Add More Soil: Add more potting mix around your plant, leaving about an inch of space from the rim of the pot.
- Water and Enjoy: Give your plant a good watering and let it drain. Now you can move it to its new home and watch it grow!
Watering Tips
The best way to know if your plant is thirsty is to stick your finger about an inch into the soil. If it feels dry, it's time to water. Be sure not to let your plant sit in a saucer full of drainage water.
Product Tips
- Time to Repot: To keep your long-term container plants happy, we recommend repotting them with fresh potting mix every year or two. This gives them fresh nutrients and helps prevent the soil from getting compacted.
- Keep Them Fed: After about two months, your plants will be ready for a meal. Start a regular feeding routine with a Miracle-Gro Organic Plant Food to keep them growing strong.
Product Safety
Clean Hands, Happy Gardener: We always suggest wearing gardening gloves when you're digging in, and it's a good practice to wash your hands when you're done.

Frequently Asked Questions
What types of plants can I use Miracle-Gro Organic Potting Mix for?
This potting mix is perfect for all of your favorite indoor and outdoor container-grown vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs.
Is Miracle-Gro Organic Potting Mix really organic?
Yes. This potting mix is OMRI-Listed for use in organic gardening, meaning it has been reviewed by the Organic Materials Review Institute for organic use under U.S. regulations.
Why do I need a special potting mix for containers instead of regular garden soil?
Plants in pots have different needs than plants in the ground. Potting mixes are specially blended to be lighter and to hold and release water properly in a container, which helps prevent the soil from becoming too compacted or waterlogged.
How long does Miracle-Gro Organic Potting Mix feed my plants?
This organic mix contains a slow-release natural fertilizer that fees your plants for up to 2 months.
How much nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium are in this bag of Organic Potting Mix?
The fertilizer analysis is 0.09-0.06-0.09. That means this bag of organic potting mix container 0.09% nitrogen, 0.06% phosphorus, and 0.09% potassium.
Since Miracle-Gro Organic Potting Mix has fertilizer do I need to feed my plants?
Yes. About a month after planting, start a regular feeding routine with a Miracle-Gro Organic Plant Food to keep your plants growing strong.
How often should I repot my container plants with fresh potting mix?
For the happiest plants, we recommend repotting with fresh soil every 1-2 years to provide fresh nutrients and prevent soil compaction. Remember to use pots with a drainage hole. Also look out for plants that have roots growing out of the drainage hole, water running straight through the pot without being absorbed, or are looking too big for their current home.
How many containers can I fill with one bag of Miracle-Gro Organic Potting Mix?
One 1 cu. ft. bag will fill approximately three 10-inch containers, though the amount may vary depending on the size of your plant's root ball.
What does “responsibly sourced peat” mean in Miracle-Gro Organic Potting Mix?
It means the sphagnum peat moss in this mix comes from Veriflora-certified, sustainably managed peatlands. We also reduce our overall peat use where we can and use upcycled green waste as part of the blend, so this potting mix supports your container garden and the land it comes from.
Is Miracle-Gro Organic Potting Mix formulated the same in every state?
Not exactly. Miracle-Gro Organic Potting Mix is regionally formulated using locally available organic materials like compost and processed forest products, so the exact ingredient mix can vary slightly by region. Every version still meets the same OMRI-Listed standard and feeds your container plants for up to 2 months.
