How Often to Use: Wait at least 2 months between applications.

  1. Check the Grass: Make sure your lawn is dry before applying.
  2. Apply with a Spreader: Fill up your Scotts spreader, dial in the right setting, and walk at a steady pace to get even coverage across your lawn.

Unlike some of our other Weed & Feed products, this one needs to be watered in right after you apply it. Give your lawn a good watering to wash the granules from the grass blades and get them down to the soil.

  • Mow First: For best results, mow your lawn a day or two before you apply.
  • Don't Overdo It: If you've recently used another weed control product on your lawn, wait at least one month before applying Bonus S.
  • Let it Dry: It's best to have the lawn to yourself during application. People and pets can re-enter the area after the granules have been watered in and the grass has dried.
  • Dress for the Job: We recommend wearing a long-sleeved shirt, long pants, shoes, and socks when applying.
  • Wash Up: After you're done, be sure to wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water.

Got some left over? No problem. Just fold the top of the bag down, secure it, and store it in a cool, dry place like your garage or shed, safely away from kids and pets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works for me I’ve been reading the negative reviews as they popped up first. I have a quarter acre of all centipede lawn. That’s just the lawn. Been using this for decades and it always works just fine. Gotta say, looking at the neg reviews, I think most people simply don’t follow instructions. One guy put it down in January and was mad it didn’t work. One was mad there were clumps in the bag that wrecked his lawn… how a clump gets through a spreader I don’t know but… I always drop the bag a bunch (like a bag of ice) then I got an old stick I run around the spreader to bust up whatever’s left. Some people’s complaint pictures showed they didn’t even have grass, just hard dirt. Duh. Some of them had it looked like every grass type but southern grasses. Amazing. Takes me about an hour every year after it warms up, then I water and forget about it. Works fine… and it’s weed control, not weed eradication. And the thicker your lawn the more control. And don’t dump tons on thinking tons more is better. Geez. No, I don’t work for Scott’s. Did work every year through high school and college on golf courses I couldn’t afford to play on. Yes, they had all kinds of chemicals for the courses, but around the clubhouse and common areas… just plain old Scott’s and worked fine. Have a great day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic dark green lawn I’ve been using the Scott’s turf builder for years on my lawn with excellent results. I do have one question for the Scott’s company. If pets walk on the lawn after applying your products, will it affect the animals in any way? Is it dangerous?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The results are incredible We used Bonus S for about 20 years at our old house with excellent results. We built a new house in 2023, and let’s say we neglected our lawn a bit. It is about 1 acre of Floratam sod. I treated on Jan 3rd and ran out of product. It is now Feb 16th and that portion of the lawn looks great - it is greener and fuller with virtually no new weed. There is some weed here and there but few and that I plucked. I could see the line of demarcation. The results are incredible. I treated the remainder yesterday. Hopefully, it is not too late. The only thing I can think of is that the negative reviews are from competitors and subscription lawn services.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product If you received the pictures, this is what my lawn has looked like for the last few years using Bonus S for southern lawns. I’m sorry to say that this will not be the case anymore, for we can no longer afford to buy the 4 10000 square foot bags to do this.
