When the day began at 7:30 a.m., Columbus, Ohio’s Franklin Park Conservatory parking lot was filled with pallets of Scotts Topsoil, Miracle-Gro Performance Organics in-ground soil, humus and manure, and mulch stacked sky high. When it ended later that afternoon, our associate volunteers were covered in dirt, but filled with joy, knowing they helped dozens of community gardens throughout central Ohio.
It’s an Earth Day tradition at ScottsMiracle-Gro to give back to the community and to the planet. Whether planting trees or filling gardeners’ vehicles with bags of our product, it’s the perfect time to get outside and use the Give Back to Gro volunteer day.
At the 13th SMG event at the Conservatory, more than 50 associate volunteers did the heavy lifting to provide product to 90 area city and county gardens. It’s a special day that allows associates to meet with so many gardeners who grow plants and food for their communities and to work with associates they may not work with on a regular basis.
It always seems like a daunting task when the cars start lining up and the pallets are full, but when we work hard, work together and work for others, we can accomplish anything. On Earth Day and every day.
