ScottsMiracle-Gro partners share what they think makes a good company.
Recently, we began to share more about our purpose to GroMoreGood everywhere. GroMoreGood defines how we see our responsibility to our communities, our planet, our consumers, our partners and each other.
As we thought about sharing this purpose with the world, we felt that one of the best ways to tell the GroMoreGood story was through the voices of our environmental and community partners. We asked them things like, “What makes a good company?” “What do you look for in a partner?” and “What makes ScottsMiracle-Gro a good partner?” Here’s what they had to say:
Eric Eikenberg, CEO of the Everglades Foundation
“When The Everglades Foundation announced the George Barley Water Prize, the largest water prize in history, we needed a partner that would stand beside us to address one of the world’s most pervasive and challenging water quality issues. When we met with ScottsMiracle-Gro, it was instantly clear to us that they had the solutions-orientated mindset and entrepreneurial spirit that we needed to be successful. They brought more to the table than a check. They brought credibility and national attention to the Prize. They are a true American company, and we’re proud to be their partner.”
Steve Ellis, Treasurer of the Pollinator Stewardship Council
“When we first started working with ScottsMiracle-Gro, there were a lot of people on our board who were skeptical. There was a question of sincerity. But ScottsMiracle-Gro didn’t just do lip service and try to buy environmental groups. They recognized the problem and were willing to step up and take Neonics out of their product line. Now they’re working with us to educate homeowners on how to protect pollinators. That’s a real partnership.”
Bruce Harkey, CEO & President of The Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens
“Our partnership with ScottsMiracle-Gro is very natural. We both share a passion for connecting people with the outdoors. Together, we built The Scotts Miracle-Gro Foundation Children’s Garden, and it has allowed us to see firsthand the magical moments that happen when children connect with nature in a hands-on way.”
Emily Shipman, Executive Director of KidsGardening
“ScottsMiracle-Gro is a great partner for KidsGardening because we share the same values. We’re both committed to connecting children to the benefits of gardens and greenspaces. The impact of our work together grows as our relationship grows. Over the years, we’ve connected tens of thousands of kids across the country to nature, healthier food and places to play through our GroMoreGood Grassroots Grants program.”
