It’s clear to see that ScottsMiracle-Gro associates have so much heart when it comes to giving back. Our winning attitude shows up in the retail world and on the philanthropy side. When there’s an opportunity to help others, we go all out. That proved true once again in the form of the American Heart Association (AHA) Central Ohio Heart Walk, as ScottsMiracle-Gro raised the most in central Ohio for the 2024 edition. It reflects our company purpose to GroMoreGood in the world.
This year we collectively raised over $278k and we were the top fundraiser in central Ohio.
A total of 40 teams and 422 walkers led the charge to help save lives and fund research. The main event was the Central Ohio Heart Walk in downtown Columbus, not far from our Marysville headquarters.
But that didn’t stop our Temecula, California, facility from contributing in a big way.
Temecula’s Engagement Design Team (EDT) came up with the idea to join in on the wellness and giving opportunity by organizing their own amazing walk in Temecula, California. More than 200 associates participated in the walk and they donated to the Central Ohio Heart Walk cause. The EDT team came in at 6 a.m. that day to decorate, set up the sound system and hand out water to all of the participants. All three of Temecula’s shifts participated in their walk at varying times based on shifts and time of day.
In addition, our Pacific Junction, Iowa, associates were inspired by the effort and had their own walk to join the cause
[Note: even though the Heart Walk takes place in regional locations, funding supports cancer research nationwide.]
From coast to coast, our associates showed their heart in a big way this year. Thanks to all who contributed to making ScottsMiracle-Gro the top AHA donor in central Ohio again this year!
