Our Hawthorne Agrolux team, based in The Netherlands, recently attended Fruit Logistica in Berlin, Germany. The fresh produce trade show is considered one of the most important venues for decision makers in the ProHort (professional horticulture) industry. The industry has begun to shift toward LED lighting. While LEDs are typically more expensive than traditional lighting, they are energy efficient and can generate better yields.
What made this event so important for our team was the opportunity to formally launch the newest member of the WEGA family: the Max High Efficiency LED fixture, the most efficient LED light in the ProHort market.
While interest in and demand for WEGA lights has been increasing in Europe due to skyrocketing energy prices, across the pond, we completed our first large-scale installation at Nature Fresh Farms in Leamington, Ontario, Canada. Since then several large installations have been completed in Canada and recently also the USA, and more opportunities exist in North America.
The ProHort segment of the Hawthorne business is growing, led by LED technology. We’re especially proud of the WEGA fixtures, developed in-house by our R&D team in close cooperation with the ProHort category management team.
The Agrolux WEGA LED product portfolio will be shown at several more trade shows (Amsterdam, United States and Canada) this greenhouse lighting season. Pardon the pun, but the future looks bright (and efficient).
