Our EHS specialist Logan led a CPR and AED training course at the R&D building on the Marysville, Ohio, campus earlier this year. He is an American Heart Association First Aid, CPR and AED certified instructor; and he trained 95 associates from the R&D, Quality, Regulatory, and Supply Chain logistics teams on how to perform CPR, how to use an AED (automated external defibrillator) and first aid knowledge.
Associates were assigned a 90-minute Workday course covering the material. They also had the option to receive hands-on training with a certified trainer during which they could practice with manikins and training AEDs. Training with Logan allowed them to perform skill assessments to ensure learning outcomes were achieved.
Those who participated loved the in-person, hands-on training opportunity. They appreciated how learning these life saving skills can also be used at home as well at work. Each group was very engaging and asked a lot of questions.
This event was the monthly safety training topic in February. The importance of knowing CPR, AED and First Aid was highlighted after Buffalo Bills player Damar Hamlin suffered cardiac arrest during an NFL game in January.
Representatives from the American Heart Association also attended the event and encouraged participation in this year’s Central Ohio Heart Walk. This year’s walk will be held on Saturday, August 19.
