Definition
Bifenthrin is an insecticide that was developed from knowledge of natural compounds found in chrysanthemum flowers called pyrethrins.
For that reason, bifenthrin is classified as a pyrethroid to reflect its connection to naturally occurring pyrethrins. Many plants naturally produce compounds to help defend themselves from insects and other pests, and these plant compounds are a source to develop new and improved insecticide ingredients.
Since bifenthrin became available for use in 1985, it has gained popularity with farmers and gardeners due to its effectiveness and duration in outdoor conditions Bifenthrin is effective in killing more than 300 insect pests like roaches, ticks, mosquitoes, fire ants, aphids and beetles.
