Definition
Peat moss bogs form in poorly-drained low spots like old river beds, lakes and ponds, which slow the natural decay of plant matter and creates a very stable “compost-like” material of sorts.
The sphagnum species of peat moss is prized by professional growers and gardeners because it retains a great deal of moisture, provides an excellent growing environment for plant roots and is virtually free of weeds, insects and diseases.
Our responsibly-sourced Canadian sphagnum peat is lightweight, breaks down slowly and retains moisture so plants require less watering.
