Mike Lukemire
President
Mike believes the success of our organization is tied to the individual and collective strengths of our people. His approach to building a highly effective team is grounded in servant leadership and a shared sense of passion, collaboration, trust and perseverance. He calls it "One Team, One Goal," where everyone has clarity of purpose and is empowered to make decisions that drive us to win in the marketplace. These have been the guiding principles throughout Mike’s career.
Mike was named chief operating officer in 2014 and president in 2016. He is responsible for our portfolio of brands with leadership accountability for all aspects of our business, including marketing, sales, supply chain, information technology and research and development.
Since joining ScottsMiracle-Gro in 1995, Mike has served as director of operations, vice president of manufacturing, senior vice president of global supply chain and executive vice president of global technologies and operations. He also was regional president responsible for business development, marketing and sales in the southeastern U.S. He eventually led North America sales before being named executive vice president of the North America business.
Before his ScottsMiracle-Gro career, Mike had 16 years of business unit and operations management experience at Nabisco, Kraft-General Foods and Kroger.
He earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and biology from Georgetown College in Kentucky, where he serves on its board of trustees, and attended the Kraft Executive Management School at Southern Methodist University. Mike also is a board member for Bonnie Plants.
Mike subscribes to leadership by example. This comes to life in his Weekly Walks with Luke and annual Yoga on the Lawn, where hundreds of associates join him in the spirit of our LiveTotal Health approach to wellness. He has chaired the American Heart Association Central Ohio Heart Walk, and most mornings can be found starting his day with fellow associates at our wellness center.
Mike is passionate about his family and our ScottsMiracle-Gro family. It’s common for associates to hear from Mike regularly, from business updates to personal birthday and holiday wishes.
